Ed Wegener

A compliance, risk management, and supervisory controls professional with deep expertise in federal securities laws, self-regulatory organization rules, and regulatory technology, Ed joined Oyster Consulting in 2020 where he worked with financial institution clients on complex compliance, regulatory, and risk challenges across testing, guidance, and program development. Ed previously held several senior roles at FINRA, most recently as Senior Vice President and Midwest Regional Director, overseeing the region’s risk assessment, examination, and investigation programs. He was a key member of the team that developed FINRA’s risk-based examination program and personally developed and managed FINRA’s first Digital Asset and Cybersecurity examination programs – expertise that positions him at the forefront of two of the industry’s most rapidly evolving compliance areas. His work spans supervisory systems and controls, fraud risk assessments, AML program development, internal investigations, RegTech integration, digital assets, cybersecurity program assessments, and regulatory examination support.
