Meet the Team Supporting NSCP Members: A Q&A with Tyler Neese

Association Updates,

Tyler Neese is NSCP’s Director of Regulatory Affairs

1. What is your role at NSCP, and how do you support our members?

I serve as NSCP’s Director of Regulatory Affairs. A significant component of my role is advocacy, which I believe serves our members by providing a voice for their industry within the regulatory environment and beyond – anywhere decisions are being made that have the potential to impact financial services compliance professionals.

2. What drew you to working in the association space?

The opportunity to serve members and represent an industry and a group of professionals is what drew me to the association space. Associations are uniquely positioned to amplify the concerns, expertise, and overall voice of a group of professionals. That can make a significant impact, and I think it’s a pretty special thing. I’ve been working in the association space for more than 17 years, so it’s safe to say I enjoy it.

3. What’s one thing you wish more members knew about your role?

I would just emphasize the importance of industry representation with key decision makers and policy makers. There’s an old political adage, “if you’re not at the table, you’re on the menu.” I really believe this is true. If we’re not at the “table” advocating on behalf of compliance – sharing concerns, providing critical industry expertise, and making key recommendations – the result could be policies and initiatives that adversely impact compliance and the broader industry.

4. What do you enjoy most about being part of the NSCP team?

I’m confident I won’t be the only one to say this, but the people. We have a great team, and I’ve really enjoyed getting to meet our members and support them on committees, at the conference, etc.

5. What’s your go-to way to recharge or reset outside of work?

I like to get outside and explore the mountains in Central Oregon, especially mountain biking and skiing.

6. Coffee order or favorite afternoon snack?

I’m more of a tea-drinker. Black tea is my go-to.
