Meet the Team Supporting NSCP Members: A Q&A with Heather Barnett

Association Updates,

1. What is your role at NSCP, and how do you support our members?

As Director of Business Systems & Operations, I bring structure to complexity, align systems to strategy, and turn chaos into coordinated execution – at least that is my ultimate goal. If I can do that it will allow the team to focus on the mission, not the noise.

2. What drew you to working in the association space?

I worked in the financial industry for over 20 years, with compliance, technology and data analytics at my roots. I wanted to be able to continue to grow in the industry but have a different spin on what that looks like. I also knew there were going to be areas that I touched that were going to be new challenges and interesting.

3. What do you enjoy most about being part of the NSCP team?

Everyone says the people – that is true. Our team and the members. Our team meshes really well, and we have this scrappy work ethic where we roll up our sleeves and figure out how to provide value to our members. The other part I like is that we are constantly learning and encouraged to lean in and really understand the organization and associations.

4. What’s your go-to way to recharge or reset outside of work?

I love to snuggle with my 3 dogs and crafting. Give me wet noses, dog hair and a glue gun and I am as happy as can be.

5. Coffee order or favorite afternoon snack?

Coffee order: Iced venti white chocolate mocha with blonde shots, extra shot and extra pump of mocha.  If I am home – hot, some kind of flavored roasted coffee, sweet cream.

Snack: Some kind of cheese – Parmesan crisps, but string and Colby-jack have been my go-to lately.
