NSCP Announces 2026 Chair and Chair-Elect

Washington, DC (November 6, 2025) – The National Society of Compliance Professionals (NSCP) pleased to announce that Heather Traeger, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of the Teacher Retirement System of Texas, has officially assumed the role of Chair of the NSCP Board of Directors for 2026. In addition, Jim Papagiannis, Chief Compliance Officer of InspereX, has been named Chair-Elect.

Together, these appointments reflect NSCP’s ongoing commitment to advancing the compliance profession through leadership grounded in experience, service, and a deep understanding of the evolving regulatory landscape.

As General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for the Teacher Retirement System of Texas, Traeger oversees all legal services and compliance for the sixth-largest public pension fund in the United States, encompassing both the retirement system’s pension plan and two health care programs. With more than 25 years of experience in financial services, she has held senior regulatory roles at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, O’Melveny & Myers LLP, and the Investment Company Institute.  In addition to her work with NSCP, Traeger actively participates on numerous industry committees.

Papagiannis serves as Chief Compliance Officer at InspereX, where he leads the firm’s enterprise-wide regulatory and compliance program. In this role, he is responsible for ensuring the firm’s adherence to FINRA, SEC, and other regulatory requirements, while advancing a culture of integrity and sound risk management. Prior to joining InspereX, Papagiannis spent 14 years with FINRA, where he managed regulatory examinations across a range of business lines, products, and supervisory frameworks. His oversight of hundreds of broker-dealers has given him a deep understanding of industry best practices and the evolving regulatory landscape. Papagiannis holds a B.S. in Finance and an M.B.A. in International Finance and Marketing from DePaul University, and he is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder.
