NSCP Honors Lisa Crossley’s Decade of Leadership; Melissa Loner Named Incoming Executive Director and CEO

Washington, DC. (July 28, 2025) – The National Society of Compliance Professionals (NSCP) announced today that Lisa Crossley, who has served as Executive Director and CEO since 2015, will step down from her role at the end of this year. Melissa Loner, currently NSCP’s Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Executive Director, will assume the position of Executive Director and CEO effective November 1, 2025. A formal “passing of the baton” will take place during NSCP’s National Conference in October. Crossley will remain with NSCP through December 31 to support a smooth and thoughtful transition.
Ms. Crossley joined NSCP as its Regulatory Compliance Liaison in 2010, was promoted to Deputy Executive Director in 2013, and became Executive Director in 2015. A member of NSCP for 27 years, she previously served on the organization’s board of directors from 2003 to 2006. Her prior professional experience includes serving as Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer for Spectrum Asset Management, Vice President and Director of Compliance for Nuveen Investments, and Associate General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer with Calvert Investments. She holds a B.A. from the University of Vermont and a J.D. from the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law.
“Leading NSCP has been one of the greatest honors of my professional life,” said Crossley. “The strength and growth of this community is a testament to the dedication of our members and the importance of compliance professionals across the industry. I am deeply grateful to have worked alongside such talented individuals and proud of all we’ve accomplished together.
As I prepare to pass the baton, I couldn’t be more confident that NSCP is in great hands with Melissa. Her leadership, vision, and deep commitment to our mission make her the right person to guide NSCP into its next chapter.”
Melissa Loner brings more than 25 years of financial services experience to her new role, most recently serving as NSCP’s Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Executive Director. She is the immediate past Chair of NSCP’s Board of Directors and is widely respected across the compliance community. Her prior roles include Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer at Avantax, along with senior positions at Premier Wealth Management® and Cambridge Investment Research, Inc. She holds an MBA from American Military University and multiple FINRA Series licenses.
“I’m humbled by the opportunity to help lead NSCP during this important transition,” said Loner. “Lisa’s legacy of thoughtful, mission-driven leadership has positioned NSCP for continued success, and I look forward to building on that strong foundation.”
Under Crossley’s leadership, NSCP has grown in membership and influence, expanded its educational and advocacy programs, and guided the compliance community through significant regulatory change.
“Lisa has been a steady and visionary leader through a decade of growth and transformation for the NSCP, elevating the organization to new heights and fostering a community of compliance professionals who support the industry and each other,” said Patrick Hayes, Chair of the NSCP Board of Directors. “We’re grateful for her service and excited to welcome Melissa into this new role. The Board is confident that Melissa’s leadership will carry NSCP forward with the same care, expertise, and passion our members have come to expect.”
