Overview

The Publications Committee Member plays a key role in the development and dissemination of NSCP’s premier compliance publication, NSCP Currents. As part of the committee, you will contribute to shaping the editorial direction, and ensuring the quality of content, supporting the distribution of informative and engaging articles and tools, to the NSCP members.

Responsibilities

  • Content Review & Editing: Collaborate with fellow committee members to review and edit submissions, ensuring they meet editorial standards for clarity, accuracy, and relevance. Provide constructive feedback to authors.
  • Editorial Direction: Contribute to defining the editorial focus and thematic direction of NSCP Currents. Participate in monthly committee meetings to discuss upcoming articles and topics, ensuring content aligns with organizational goals and audience interests.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with writers, fellow committee members, and NSCP staff to ensure publications are timely, well-executed, and consistent with the organization’s voice and mission.
  • Compliance & Ethics: To the best of your ability, ensure that all published content adheres to legal, ethical, and organizational guidelines. This includes fact-checking and verifying sources where appropriate.
  • Innovation & Development: Stay up-to-date with compliance and regulatory trends. Bring fresh ideas to the committee for improving publication quality, presentation, and reader engagement.

Qualifications

  • Current NSCP member
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong foundation in compliance and regulatory requirements, with ongoing awareness of new and evolving trends
  • Knowledge of NSCP’s mission, values, and target audience

Time Commitment

  • This is a volunteer position requiring participation in monthly committee meetings, as well as time for content review and editing between meetings. The time commitment may vary depending on publication cycles and project needs.
  • Approximately 1-3 hours/month
  • One year commitment
