Overview

The Regulatory Advisory Committee Member plays a key role in advising NSCP staff and the Board of Directors on regulatory outreach, offerings and benefits. This position involves providing insights and guidance on regulatory developments, policy changes, and emerging trends that may impact the organization’s operations.

VOLUNTEER FORM

Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Guidance: Provide analysis and feedback on existing and proposed regulations affecting NSCP member firms.
  • Outreach Development: Evaluate regulatory opportunities where the voice of NSCP can add value by influencing regulatory developments and recommend the appropriate vehicle for such efforts.
  • Programs and Benefits Assessment: Review current regulatory offerings and benefits, assess their value and make recommendations to the Board and NSCP Staff as to how to improve such offerings and benefits.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a liaison between the organization and relevant regulatory bodies, industry groups, and government agencies. Participate in discussions and forums that may influence regulatory policies.

Qualifications

  • Current NSCP member
  • 10 + years in the financial services industry preferred    
  • Extensive experience in regulatory affairs, compliance, law, or a related field
  • In-depth knowledge of industry-specific regulations and standards 
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams, external stakeholders, and regulatory bodies
  • Ability to stay informed on changing regulations and their potential impacts on NSCP member firms

Time Commitment

  • This is a volunteer position requiring participation in monthly committee meetings, as well as time dedicated to stakeholder communication, idea development and review between meetings. The time commitment may vary depending on project needs.
  • Approximately 1-2 hours/month
  • One year commitment
